School's in! Are you ready?

The school year is rapidly approaching, and there’s no better time than now to make sure you’re prepared to have a successful year. Before we begin with how to succeed this year in school, let us bring you up to speed on ITC.

As you hopefully know ITC has been in the process of relocating to T. Aaron Levy (Fellows Ave and Harvard Place) for the year while renovations begin at Central Tech. If you’re feeling skeptical about the move to Levy, don’t be! The Tech Know Staff has spent the last week and a half up exploring, helping teachers unpack, and trying to put together a guide to Levy for students and teachers alike. Transportation will be a little different this year, It will consist of both yellow-bus and Centro transport, and Tech Know will have an article on that in the coming weeks, you should also receive a letter no later than the 30th about transportation. ITC will have an enrollment of approximately 500 students, grades 8-12, and also a small Pre-K class.

School starts on Thursday September 9th for Underclassmen and Friday September 10th for upperclassmen, and we’ll have more on these dates later. For all the seniors taking ESF courses on campus (LSA-480 Urban Design and EFB-120 ESF and the Global Environment) those classes begin August 30th, and Mr. Williams will contact you about those.

Preparing for the 2010-11 Academic Year

With each new school year, comes a list of new classes, and this year is no exception. We’ve added approximately 3 ESF classes for college credit available to seniors, as well as many AP Classes. Now’s the time to make sure your schedule is to your liking, you can take a sneak peak at if you head over the Home Access Center (https://mitnick.scsd.us/homeaccess/) but last time we checked, that’s not the correct version yet, and don’t freak out if it’s nothing you like. It’s also a good time to call and set up a meeting with the new guidance counselor Mrs. Santiago, you can call the Main Office at Levy to set up an appointment. (435-4444)

It’s also important that you begin getting back into a regular sleeping pattern. It’s really important you get used to getting up at a reasonable hour again, and going to bed at a reasonable hour—unless you want to train for the many late nights of studying you have ahead of you.

Top Secret

Phase I of the April Fools war (Students v. Piraino) was implemented today by Junior Mike McCrary. Officials looked over and approved the plan almost instantaneously. Phase I is just 1 out of countless phases all designed by students to wage types of psychological war on Piraino. Doctors speculate however that Phase I alone may actually be enough to send all men of the bald or toupee persuasion to the asylum. Anonymous sources lead us to discover Piraino admitting that he was "intensely filled with fear about the unfolding situation." When asked, the undercover cop refused to answer any of Tech Know's questions although we did over hear him talking with Piraino about the use of sick days during April. No progress by Mr. Piraino has been reported.

Tech Closes Season with Victory

The Bottle and Can drive wasn't ITC's only Victory Saturday January 30, as Jahcin Ingram (#11) was busy slamming home the first dunk in ITC history. The Boy’s Junior Varsity, Boy’s Varsity and Girl’s Varsity successfully won their last games for a great wrap up to end the season. Hector Cruz and Joe Boatwright lead the boy's JV team to an exciting victory, the team won a nail biter on some clutch free throws with the final score being 66-59.


Next was the Varsity game in which Jahcin Ingram led the varsity Eagles with a career high 31 points and was able to lift the team to a 63-54 victory over Cato-Meridian.
The main event however was a real treat. For those who stuck around got to watch the Varsity girls dismantle Tyburn Academy. The final score was 44 - 13. "January 30, 2010 will go down in history at ITC because we proved to ourselves and the community that we can help those not fortunate enough to be able to slam a ball through a hoop."

Tech Dominance

On Saturday January 30, 2010 students from I.T. Central took time out of their weekend to help in a can drive relief effort for Haiti. Joshua Gleba, Jake O’Connell, Julie Knittel, Geo Romaine, Brittany Ditch, Ricky Jones, and Sanjeev Kumar were students that helped collect and sort out the cans, as well as plastic and glass bottles. Through this community service, ITC students gained a rewarding, albeit cold, experience that they won't soon forget. That wasn’t the only victory as the Boy’s Junior Varsity, Boy’s Varsity and Girl’s Varsity successfully won their last game for a great wrap up to end the season. January 30, 2010 was a day of victory on and off the basketball court.

Tech goes hard

January 15, 2010, Martin Luther King’s 90th birthday, is a day to remember that will go down in the Tech History books. As many already know the Tech Varsity Basketball game against Faith Heritage High School resulted in a final score of 63-64, a one point loss. It’s something that our athletes will have to experience in their basketball careers. I’m sure that our school is proud of the team for the unbelievable effort they put in and for the intense game that proved them worthy of being our varsity team. Well done to the Junior Varsity team for their win. Go Eagles or whatever we become!

Mascot Conspiracy?

Titans, Tornadoes, Tigers, Tarantulas and Eagles are currently in debate. To some people, Eagles don’t seem to fit our school as we are already enough baldness. Recently, the Tech Know News team discovered that Remember the Titans was set in "T.C. Williams High School" (in Alexandria, Virginia). Has the Syracuse City School District implemented Mr. Williams, our Principal, as form of conspiracy? Is this the objective of the Undercover Cop, Mr. Flanders? A school-wide vote for a mascot will take place and you decide if you want this conspiracy to be a success.

Resistance pushed back by Notorious Cop

As this school year continues, The Tech Know staff have suspiciously been given more homework than usual. It seems ironic that as the work is attempted, homework suddenly becomes a barrier to investigating and reporting. In the past few months, “Ned” Flanders has still been giving evil grins to innocent students. Sources have provided that this suspected undercover cop has recruited a few of our own ITC staff. Bob “Buff” Piraino is one of them. Piraino teaches a majority of the tech know team and has given us loads of work to allow Flanders’ plan unfold.

Conflict has occurred in the past between the Brain Trust Organization and Piraino Mob Squad. April 1, 2010 was the battle set between these two bitter enemies. The Institute of Technology Investigation Bureau (ITIB) informed Tech Know that partnerships between Piraino and Flanders have been made, although both parties refused to comment. Officials now also have reason to believe Flanders is truly an undercover cop this is supported by his strange behavior of constantly changing toupees and growing his beard. Flanders also always has a cup of coffee, but is rarely been spotted refilling it--the 'Gibbs' Sip is indicative of an undercover cop. Please report any of the ITC staff that you suspect of being an IT-CIA undercover agent. If a teacher is giving too much homework, report them as soon as possible as they can be placed on the watch list.
